What a truly amazing week! (See photos below)
This year's Holiday Club has really demonstrated the magnificent teamwork
that has always seemed to underline our life at Wilford Church. The
working together, the sheer resilience in the rain, the camaraderie, the
frequent words of encouragement and support, and the wonderful 'aliveness' that
this week brings out in people. I have had so many expressions of thanks
from parents and children, heard so many stories of team members' faith renewed
and I have wept at the sheer joy in children's faces as they have danced and
sung.
Twenty two year six children came to join the usual fifty or so youth at our
Youth Programme on Friday night. They wanted to come on our Youth weekend
Away and join a youth housegroup. There is a great desire among them to be
helpers at next year's holiday club. This will be a significant increase
in our youth housegroups, which is an important way of supporting our young
people as they work their way through peer pressure at school.
But holiday club is not just about children and young people. Every
year it brings the whole church family together across the generations - to work
to make the great news of Jesus known to everyone. Thank you for playing
your part.
