Pen Pals

If any Year 5 or 6 child would like a French Pen Pal, this can be arranged. Mrs. Grant has contact with a French School who are keen to set these links up. Letters have been circulated to the children. The idea is that the children take responsibility for maintaining contact on an on-going basis.

QCA Modern Foreign Language

International Week Flags

Children at South Wilford School all have the opportunity to learn something of a Modern Foreign Language from Year 3 upwards.

For many years Mrs. Grant has taught French each week to all the Key Stage 2 classes. Recently we have touched on both Spanish and Italian to give a flavour of these languages.

International Week
20th - 24th October 2003

Classes chose a country to study and spent time doing some of the following:

researching geography, sharing facts and customs, talking about buildings, practising dances, learning some of the language or a song, playing a game, doing some artwork, cooking typical dishes, tasting food.

Parents with knowledge of other countries came in to share they expertise with the children.

Friday afternoon we spent time in the hall sharing something of what we had discovered.
